"I am an internationally inspired multi media artist that looks at social causes in my works with a sentimental or intimate view into human life memories and feelings of love.

 

I was born in the UK I studied theatre design and prosthetics until at 19 I worked in a travelling cardboard circus in Russia and Europe then I joined a artist busking community in China Indie Lab which I travelled with for two years , in Japan Australia and Mongolia, during that time someone I loved ER Zhang of Indie Lab committed suicide this has been a life changing event which’s impact features through my works, I was quite unwell for a few years after that and worked in Madagascar as a teacher, all this took me to becoming the type of artist I am with a complex set of world understandings with sentimental feelings, left with confusing memories and lack of nationality identity.

 

I then went on to complete my MA in fine art and develop my understandings of what I could make and achieve in this world through the endless medium of fine art which to me is like being a modern mystic. I produced my major project “one man missing” (part of bag for long ongoing series) a collaboration of spoken word with instillation which formed a solo audience piece, led me to loving documentations of reality/memory (photo video and sound recordings) and placing them into settings of viewership where they can be analysed and thought about.

 

I then did a internship in India New Delhi’s Khoj, a social arts and political arts space where I met and learned from artist producing similar niche memory and documentation sentimental works and vitally met with Afghan refugee community which helped in my collaboration piece “Lili Lili Hozac”

 

Collaboration project “Sky Bed” (multiple outcomes) is another documentation and collection of my confused and captured memories and moments of time displayed in a way for others to sentimentalise there time and there clouds, I think that’s the message I’m trying to say always is about love with loss also, our life is strange and there it is.

 

From March 2023 I will continue my internships in Chile, South Africa, Madagascar and Turkey." Amily Galhand 2023 Febuary.
