ROCKET breath
 

ROCKET breath is a piece of art from the Bag4long ongoing project, based on the last text message sent by er to me and the ongoing image of the last breath taken by him with the plastic bag on his head that has haunted me for so long. The piece was made as a response to the 27 collaboration project in the ARThouse in Wakefield in May 2022, the piece consists of a clay face covered by white plastic bag, the air has been drawn out of the bag and the faces mouth is open, pupils are visibly looking at you through the sheer bag and the bag is partially buried with soil, on the outside of the box is covered with Muslim symbols of death and resting in piece also the Chinese symbol of freedom 'Ziyou', these represent the ideology ideas of the Muslim faith and the effects they had on er in his life, also the fact that his grave cannot be viewed by women and the dream he always had of freedom in death.
